Coupon Fraud

As a new couponer, it's easy to make mistakes and accidentally use the right coupon for the wrong product...

A $1 off 1 box of Cheerios Q might work for another General Mills cereal but it wasn't meant to be used that way.

It's when you do it on purpose that you start to have a problem...It’s illegal!
It an cost you 3-5 years in prison (longest sentence: 17 years) and the fines are often in the excess for $200,000 (highest fine: $5 million) . It really hurts everyone – the stores, the manufacturers, and consumers.

Another form of coupon fraud is to photocopy a coupon.
A coupon is basically free money from the manufacturer, for us to use on their products. You can't photocopy money and use it either. (darn it!)
Sadly, this has been going on lately off other Wisconsin coupon blogs...they learn of a deal and print off the coupon, then make copies. It's a HUGE red flag to a store when they see someone use a bunch of coupons and they all have the same "print code" on them.

Other quick tips:
  • It is illegal to modify a coupon in any way.
  • It is illegal to use it for any size other than what it's intended for.
  • It is illegal to use it for any quantity other than what they have printed on it.
